Breeder/Judge Jan Marshall Comments on the Winner at ARC Regional Specialty, December, 1990

For Best of Breed:  In my first cut several very nice dogs didn't go further, because they were not enough dog for me.  I am a firm believer that Rottweilers should have heavy bone and substance as long as they aren't "clunky."  If I have heavier built (not fat), typey, and sound entries, the elegant dog will not be my choice.  I got down to three males, each worthy of the top win.

The male I chose (Ch. Yden's Chase Manhattan) has the bone, substance, shoulder angulation, topline and true movement I admire.  He caught my eye when he entered the ring...making the statement, "ROTTWEILER."  He has an easily seen weakness while standing, but he moved soundly.  I put up the overall dog with his many excellent qualities that are getting harder to find.
